“Family of Missing US Tourist Leaves Grenada After Extensive Search”

Date:

The family of a missing tourist from a Caribbean island is returning home after an extensive search. Elizabeth Waddell, a 44-year-old US citizen, disappeared on July 22 after heading to Grand Anse Beach in Grenada for a swim. Despite initial sightings, she vanished while swimming beneath the jetty, prompting her friend Heather to raise the alarm later in the day.

Elizabeth’s family, having exhausted their search efforts on the island, will be flying back to the US. They expressed gratitude for the support and concern shown by the people of Grenada, as well as the generous donors who contributed to their search expenses. Elizabeth’s husband, Cailen, shared a heartfelt message about their relationship, highlighting her adventurous spirit and love for exploration.

While the investigation into her disappearance continues, authorities, including the Grenada Coast Guard and the FBI, are actively involved in the search efforts. Cailen dismissed suspicions of foul play and emphasized the ongoing cooperation with local authorities and the US Embassy in the investigation.

As friends and family await answers, the focus remains on sharing information and memories of Elizabeth to aid in the search and keep her story alive.
