The family of a woman discovered in the trunk of a vehicle is determined to seek justice for her, while the main suspect in her tragic death remains at large.
Harshita Brella, aged 24, was found in a silver Vauxhall Corsa in Brisbane Road, Ilford, East London, on November 14, 2024. Her spouse, Pankaj Lamba, is believed to have fled to India.
During a visit to the UK, Ms. Brella’s sister, Sonia Dabas, expressed her determination to seek justice for her sister, stating, “her pain, strength, and memories reside within me.” The family, hailing from India, is in the UK as part of their quest for justice.
Pankaj Lamba, aged 24, faces a murder charge, along with accusations of rape, sexual assault, and coercive behavior. Northamptonshire Police has disclosed that Ms. Brella was allegedly strangled in Corby on the evening of November 10, with her body transported to Ilford the following day.
Ms. Brella’s mother, Sudesh Kumari, shared, “Whenever she called, she sounded happy and content with life.” She added, “I never imagined I would visit Corby under such tragic circumstances. It saddens me to be here without her.”
During their visit, Ms. Brella’s family went to a lake she frequented. Her father, Satbir Singh, lamented, “It pains me to revisit this place. I wish I could have come here with her. Seeing this place again, I deeply miss my daughter.”
On the anniversary of Ms. Brella’s passing last November, Det Supt Johnny Campbell reflected, “As we commemorate Harshita Brella on the first anniversary of her tragic death, our thoughts are with her family and loved ones.” He added, “In July, I had the honor of visiting India to return her personal belongings and meet with her family.” Lamba is now being pursued by Indian authorities.
