“Fan’s Prematurely Personalized Jersey Mocked Online”

Date:

A football enthusiast faced online mockery after trying to sell a Liverpool jersey with Marc Guéhi’s name for £52. Guéhi, a central defender, was set to join Liverpool but ended up signing a deal with Manchester City. The eager fan personalized the shirt with Guéhi’s name and the number 23 prematurely.

The seller, based in Horsham, West Sussex, is struggling to find a buyer for the shirt, priced at £52.70. Despite the fan’s confidence in Guéhi joining Liverpool, the transfer did not materialize, resulting in the unsold merchandise attracting ridicule online.

Guéhi, who recently signed a long-term contract with Manchester City, had gained fame at Crystal Palace by leading the team to FA Cup victory last year. The fan’s decision to personalize the jersey with number 23, reminiscent of Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, raised eyebrows as Guéhi’s number had not been confirmed.

The fan admitted to the accidental purchase on their eBay listing, attributing it to forgetfulness. Guéhi, formerly associated with Chelsea’s academy, is expected to make his debut for Manchester City against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Additionally, Pep Guardiola secured midfielder Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for £64 million in the current transfer window.
