Farage Associates Clash Over Parking in Disability Spot

Date:

Video footage captured Nigel Farage’s associates forcibly handling a man in a dispute over parking, as the leader’s car was found in a designated disabled parking spot.

Don Whittle, an elderly man dealing with various health issues including heart failure, arthritis, and spinal stenosis, with a pacemaker, recounted being accosted by individuals linked to the politician while he was in Shetland ahead of the Scottish elections on May 7. Local residents expressed outrage over the conduct of some of Farage’s team members during their visit, with Whittle revealing his need for the disabled spot to assist his wife, only to find it occupied by Farage’s vehicle.

Expressing his frustration, Whittle emphasized his displeasure at able-bodied individuals misusing disabled parking spots. He attempted to take photos of the situation, prompting the vehicle to move to a nearby corner on double yellow lines, which he also photographed.

According to Whittle’s account to the Daily Record, he tried to navigate between the vehicles to document the obstruction of the road when he was physically confronted and prevented from returning to the pavement by a member of the Reform group.

Whittle described the confrontation, mentioning his attempt to stand in front of Farage’s car to make a statement, only to be physically moved across the road by two individuals from the group, without any regard for his disability or his protestation.

Witnessing the incident, Labour candidate John Erskine criticized the manner in which Farage and his team engaged with locals, labeling it as aggressive behavior towards a vulnerable pensioner who was seeking access to necessary space.

The clash in Shetland is the latest in a series of confrontations between Farage and residents, with locals responding to the leader’s statements about the need for wealth in politics by challenging his position as a serving MP and his views on financial success.
