The service commenced at 1pm following the arrival of guests, with fans also filling up around 600 seats.

Following the service, a reception was held at Sheffield Town Hall, offering drinks and canapes from 2.30pm to 5pm. Virgo, affectionately known as “JV,” passed away at the age of 79 in February at his home in Mijas Costa, Spain.

Rob Walker emphasized the importance of recognizing Virgo’s long-standing impact on snooker, while John Parrott highlighted the void left by Virgo’s absence at the upcoming World Championships. The event concluded with various tributes and memories shared by friends, colleagues, and fans, commemorating Virgo’s unique presence in the sport.

The service included heartfelt speeches, prayers, hymns, and reminiscences about Virgo’s career, personality, and lasting influence on snooker. The attendees, including snooker legends and fans, gathered to honor Virgo’s legacy and bid farewell to a beloved figure in the snooker community.
