Farage Racks Up £151K in Funded Flights to Support Trump

Date:

Nigel Farage has accumulated over £151,000 in funded flights from donors to show support for Donald Trump since he became a Member of Parliament.

Most notably, Farage recently attended an event at Trump’s Mar A Lago resort honoring US Military Veterans just before Trump made controversial remarks belittling the sacrifices of British troops who served in Afghanistan.

Reports reveal that Farage was serving as an advisor to Hossein Ghandehari, an Iranian-born businessman, during his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland this past week.

Despite portraying himself as a champion for the “ordinary people,” the leader of Reform UK spent a significant portion of his first year as an MP traveling back and forth across the Atlantic, with affluent supporters covering the expenses.

In a specific instance, in November, a Nigeria-born Lebanese billionaire, Bassim Haidar, covered £54,921 for flights for Farage and two companions to attend a veterans’ event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, as indicated by data from the investigations site DeSmog.

In February 2025, GB News covered almost £8,000 for Farage to participate in the pro-Trump CPAC conference in Washington DC.

Trips associated with Trump dominate Farage’s entries on the Commons Register of Interests. For instance, in January 2025, crypto investor and Reform mega-donor Christopher Harborne funded £27,616 for travel and accommodation for Trump’s inauguration, following a contribution of £32,836 last summer for Farage’s trip to the US to support Trump’s re-election, sparking controversy over potential campaign donation implications.

Among other entries, Farage had a flight costing £15,276 to meet tech magnate Elon Musk, who later criticized Farage as “weak,” and a donor-sponsored trip valued at £3,353 to the New York Young Republicans Club, which was disbanded after reports of racist WhatsApp messages from its members by Politico.

Additionally, another flight worth £9,353, funded by George Cottrill, took Farage to an event organized by the pro-Trump American group National Conservatism in Belgium. The Green Party spokesperson criticized Farage, stating, “Nigel Farage is a fraud. He claims to be a patriot while associating with the American far right, especially when Trump disrespects the British troops who sacrificed their lives for America.”
