One person has lost their life, and two others are in critical condition following a crash near a charming Scottish town.
Authorities are calling on individuals who may have witnessed the incident that occurred at approximately 7:35 pm on Saturday along the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road, close to Lochfield, Lochmaben, to provide any relevant information.
The collision involved a black Vauxhall Vectra and a white Citroen Dispatch. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the location, and three individuals were subsequently transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Regrettably, the Vauxhall driver, aged 50, passed away shortly after the accident. The occupants of the Citroen, a 67-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman, are currently receiving medical care in a serious condition.
The road remained closed for about eight hours to facilitate investigative procedures and was reopened around 3:30 am on Sunday.
Sergeant Wayne Carnochan of Police Scotland expressed, “Our condolences go out to the deceased man’s family during this difficult time.
“Our investigation is ongoing to ascertain the complete circumstances surrounding the crash, and we urge anyone who may have observed anything during that period to reach out to us.
“Furthermore, individuals with relevant dash-cam footage are encouraged to make contact as it could be beneficial in our inquiries.”
