Father Dies Saving Kids at UK Beach; Fundraiser Started

Date:

A father tragically lost his life while attempting to rescue his two children at a beach in the UK. Wayne Taylor, the children’s dad, along with two other men, responded swiftly when the kids faced trouble in the sea during a family outing at Seaton Carew beach in Hartlepool on July 12.

Despite their brave efforts, Wayne and one of the men lost their lives in the rescue attempt, while the children were fortunately saved by other beach visitors. The RNLI retrieved the bodies of the men from the sea, with the incident occurring around 3.45pm. The children, thankfully unharmed, were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The tragic event unfolded as part of the ongoing “Save Lives for Sam” campaign by the Mirror, which highlights the urgency of addressing drowning incidents as a national crisis. Superintendent Glen Ward of Cleveland Police expressed condolences to the families of the deceased individuals and emphasized the serious risks associated with open water, especially during hot weather.

Following the incident, a GoFundMe page was set up to support Mr. Taylor’s family in covering funeral expenses and aiding his children. The fundraising effort has already raised over £31,000 for the family. Readers interested in contributing can access the GoFundMe page directly via the provided link.
