A father of two, Graham Hyslop, tragically passed away weeks after being assaulted outside his home, leaving his children and ex-wife devastated. The incident occurred in Sandown on the Isle of Wight on February 19, where Graham was reportedly knocked out of his wheelchair, spat on, kicked, and robbed of his bank card by three teenagers aged 14 and 15. Despite being treated for head and arm injuries, Graham later succumbed to his injuries, prompting his ex-wife to describe him as a caring family man who did not deserve such treatment.
Although the circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and not directly linked to the previous assault, the family mourns the loss of Graham. Hazel Hyslop, his ex-wife, shared that they remained close despite their separation, emphasizing Graham’s kind nature and close bond with his family.
The attack unfolded when Graham went outside in his wheelchair to retrieve an item thrown onto his property. His alleged assailants approached him, spat on him, kicked him, and stole his bank card during the altercation. Despite the trauma, Graham remained resilient and optimistic before his sudden passing in his sleep on March 1.
The family, including his children Chloe and Jack, is devastated by the loss and is awaiting autopsy results. To honor Graham’s memory, they have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for his funeral expenses. Hazel expressed a mix of anger and disbelief over the tragic events, underscoring Graham’s loving and selfless character that endeared him to many.
