A man in Palma on the Spanish island of Majorca is facing serious accusations of sexually assaulting his three-year-old daughter during prison visits. The defendant, with a history of domestic violence and sexual abuse, is alleged to have groped his daughter during these visits. Prior to imprisonment, he is accused of raping her at his residence in Palma. The trial, scheduled for this week at the First Section of the Provincial Court of Palma, is seeking an 18-year jail term for the defendant.
Apart from the lengthy sentence, the court is also considering a €30,000 (£26,000) claim for “moral damages” against the accused. Despite the allegations, the man vehemently denied the charges in court, claiming it was a fabricated accusation possibly driven by revenge from the girl’s family.
The defendant insisted that he is a caring father who never slept alone with his daughter, always staying at her mother’s home in Cala Rajada during visitations. He expressed shock at the allegations, revealing that he only learned about the accusations after being arrested in Extremadura eight months later.
During the trial, the girl’s mother testified that the child began exhibiting hypersexualized behavior, attributing it to her interactions with her father during their meetings. Additionally, the girl’s grandmother disclosed that the child confided in her about the abuse, saying it was a secret shared with her father.
The prosecution is seeking an 18-year sentence for multiple counts of abuse and sexual assault allegedly perpetrated by the man in 2018.
