“Father’s Warning: Tragic Loss of Soccer Coach to MDMA Pill”

Date:

The father of a young soccer coach who tragically passed away after consuming an MDMA pill due to its cost-effectiveness compared to alcohol has issued a heartfelt warning to fellow parents.

On New Year’s Eve, Kieran Bassett, hailing from Hastings, was socializing at a friend’s place before a night out when he reportedly ingested an ecstasy tablet. Shortly after, his health deteriorated rapidly, leading to his admission to Conquest Hospital where he was placed on life support.

Despite the medical team’s efforts, Kieran could not be saved and succumbed shortly thereafter. His grieving father, Mark Bassett, has bravely shared his experience of losing his son and his mission to dissuade others, especially youngsters, from experimenting with drugs.

Mark Bassett expressed to MailOnline, “The affordability of the pill compared to alcohol seems to be the only reason why he might have considered taking it, given that he had a promising future ahead.” He also mentioned, “Law enforcement suspects that the pill was likely contaminated or adulterated with other substances.”

Recalling the harrowing scene of his son’s final moments, Mark described the distressing sight of Kieran in a critical state with blood coming from his nose, a memory that haunts him. He emphasized the importance of young individuals looking out for their peers and intervening to prevent drug intake, stressing the unpredictability and dangers associated with substance abuse.

Mark continued, “Our goal as a family going forward is to establish a lasting legacy for Kieran and leverage his story to discourage other youths from engaging in drug use.”

At just 20 years old, Kieran, employed as a car insurance renewal advisor, dedicated his time managing the under-11 team at Hollington Hawks Youth Soccer Club and had aspirations of obtaining coaching credentials. The club praised Kieran as more than a coach, highlighting his role as a mentor and inspiration to the players.

A GoFundMe initiative has been launched in memory of Kieran, with all proceeds intended to support the football club in sustaining grassroots youth soccer, as confirmed by his family.
