Five boys have been taken into custody by Gardai in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl. Reports from the Irish Mirror suggest that six boys were potentially involved in the incident in Dublin, with one of them possibly recording part of the assault on a mobile device. The boys are accused of providing the victim with alcohol before carrying out the assault. The victim reportedly disclosed the incident to a family member, who then alerted the authorities.
While the boys were initially detained on suspicion of sexual assault, they were subsequently released without charges. A case file is set to be compiled for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
A spokesperson for the Garda informed the Irish Mirror that investigations are ongoing regarding the alleged assault on the female. The arrests of the five individuals in connection with the allegation were made on January 20, 2026. The spokesperson stated, “All five individuals apprehended and held were interrogated regarding the alleged offense and have been released without charge, awaiting submission of the case file to the DPP.”
Although the law enforcement agency did not disclose the age range of the suspects or the victim, it has been confirmed by the Irish Mirror that all parties involved are minors.
