The grieving father of a teenage girl who was fatally attacked by their family dog pleaded with authorities to euthanize the pet. Jack Biscoe, aged 37, made the request after emergency responders arrived at his residence in Leaden Roding, Essex, following the tragic incident. His 19-year-old daughter, Jamie-Lea Biscoe, succumbed to injuries sustained in the alleged dog attack.
Upon discovering his daughter with a neck wound upon his return home, Jack urged the police to take action, stating, “Please just put her down.” The dog responsible for the attack was identified as a female blue-merle Lurcher-cross, although breed confirmation tests were pending.
Essex Police seized the aggressive dog, named Shy, along with two other dogs believed to be her puppies. The younger dogs were reportedly elsewhere in the house during the fatal incident.
In an interview with The Sun following the tragedy, Jack reiterated his plea for the dog to be put down, expressing his anguish at the loss of his daughter. He also voiced concerns about the puppies’ future placement due to the traumatic experience they witnessed.
Jack mentioned that Shy had never displayed aggression before and was his daughter’s beloved companion, making the incident even more devastating. He was arrested on suspicion of being in control of a dangerously out-of-control dog causing fatal injuries, and was subsequently released on bail.
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper of Essex Police extended condolences to the victim’s family and assured the community of a thorough investigation into the incident. Officers are available in the area for any information or support needed.
