“Gruesome Murder Couple Sentenced in NY”

Date:

An atrocious incident unfolded as a malevolent couple gruesomely murdered and dismembered their housemates using meat cleavers.

Jeffrey Mackey, Alexis Nieves, and their partner-in-crime Steven Brown received prison sentences for the fatal 2024 assault on Malcom Brown, aged 53, and his wife, Donna Conneely, aged 59. The heinous act occurred in Amityville, New York, where the victims were brutally stabbed upon entering their residence on February 27, 2024. Allegedly, Nieves struck Conneely’s head with a meat tenderizer before stabbing her, while Mackey proceeded to stab Malcolm in the neck and torso. The crime came to light when a severed left arm was discovered in a park just two days later by a student.

Authorities uncovered additional human remains scattered across various locations on March 5, 2024, culminating in the identification of Malcolm and Donna as the victims. A search of the home they shared with the perpetrators revealed two meat cleavers, a large kitchen knife, and traces of blood throughout the premises.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney stated that the defendants dismembered the victims in the home’s bathroom. Steven and Wallace assisted in cutting up the bodies and disposing of them, as per police reports.

Mackey, aged 40, Nieves, aged 35, and Brown, who was Malcolm’s cousin, all pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2024. Mackey and Nieves received reduced sentences under a plea agreement after claiming they were subjected to abuse by the victims.

During the trial, Mackey expressed remorse, stating, “I deeply regret the events that unfolded. I wish they were still alive. I regret ever crossing paths with them. I extend my apologies to the families, as I wish none of this had occurred.”

Mackey pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 22 years in prison. Nieves was given an 11-year sentence for a misdemeanor, while Brown received a five-year sentence for conspiracy. Wallace admitted to concealing a human corpse and was sentenced to up to two years behind bars in the previous November ruling.

Despite the sentencing, Malcolm’s family criticized the leniency, deeming it a mere “slap on the wrist.” They questioned the adequacy of a five-year sentence for Steven Brown, considering the severity of the crimes committed.
