The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seemingly overlooked by Jordan’s royal family during their Middle East tour. Upon arriving in Amman, Jordan’s capital, the royal couple, Harry and Meghan, were invited by Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, to explore humanitarian efforts supporting displaced Syrians and Palestinians in Jordan.
Despite their extensive journey from California to the Middle East, Harry and Meghan reportedly did not have the opportunity to meet the King and Queen of Jordan. The King, Abdullah II, has close ties to the British Royal Family, particularly King Charles, having been photographed with him during an official visit to London in 2025.
During their visit, the Duke and Duchess only encountered Princess Basma Bint Talal, an aunt of King Abdullah II, and her daughter, Farah Daghistani. The royal visit included engagements at charitable organizations like the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development.
While in Amman, King Abdullah II welcomed the Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, instead of meeting Harry and Meghan. The royal couple also visited the National Centre for Rehabilitation of Addicts, where Prince Harry encouraged recovered addicts to support others in similar situations.
Additionally, they visited the World Central Kitchen headquarters, which distributes a million hot meals daily in Gaza. The couple praised the holistic approach of the center towards patient care, offering activities like gym sessions and yoga classes.
Overall, despite not meeting Jordan’s royals, Harry and Meghan engaged in impactful humanitarian efforts during their visit to the Middle East.
