A man tragically lost his life while rescuing a 12-year-old girl from an oncoming train. The incident occurred on Friday, February 13, around 8:40 p.m. local time, when officials were alerted by CSX, a railroad company, about a collision involving two pedestrians near the Kenton Avenue crossing in Marion.
The victim, identified as Dalton McMillen, 33, was accompanying the young girl, McKenna, on their way to a local store in Marion to buy sweets when the accident happened.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities confirmed Dalton’s death. McKenna sustained severe injuries and had to be freed from beneath the train. She was airlifted to a hospital in Columbus for treatment, where she is expected to recover.
The girl’s grandfather, Angel Franklin, expressed gratitude for her survival, calling it a miracle. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
