“Indian Sisters’ Tragic End: Korean Game Addiction Blamed”

Date:

Three young sisters tragically took their own lives by jumping from the ninth floor of a building after their parents confiscated their phones. The heartbreaking incident occurred in Bharat City, Ghaziabad, where siblings Pakhi, 12, Prachi, 14, and Vishika, 16, leaped from their balcony early in the morning, leaving a sorrowful note behind addressed to their father.

Authorities in India believe that the girls’ deep involvement in a Korean online game played a significant role in their decision to end their lives. The parents found an extensive diary entry expressing the sisters’ strong attachment to Korean culture and their belief that their parents were trying to curb their interests.

According to police reports, the sisters had abandoned their studies and developed a severe addiction to gaming over the past couple of years. The parents recently tried to limit their screen time, which investigators suspect may have triggered the tragic outcome.

In a lengthy letter left behind by the girls, they also mentioned their fascination with characters from various foreign shows and films, including Peppa Pig, Ariel, and Elsa. The COVID-19 pandemic further isolated the children and intensified their gaming habits, as detailed in their note.

The girls expressed in their letter that they resented their parents for not allowing their youngest sister to embrace the same interests, leading them to distance themselves from her. The grieving father, Chetan Kumar, emphasized the need for stricter parental oversight on children’s gaming activities to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
