A search is underway following the abduction of an infant from a hospital ward. The baby boy, just seven days old, was taken from the neonatal unit of a German hospital in North Rhine-Westphalia. Authorities report that the child was snatched from Lüdenscheid hospital by a woman who pretended to be a nurse.
Described as a woman in her mid-20s to early 30s with blonde hair, the suspect was wearing a light blue coat and oversized glasses. She entered a patient’s room at the hospital around 3:15 pm, taking the baby under the guise of conducting a medical examination.
Approximately an hour later at 4:10 pm, the infant was discovered naked in a stairwell near a ticket machine in a nearby car park. An ambulance promptly returned the child to the hospital, where he is reported to be in good health.
The Sterncenter parking garage, located about an eight-minute drive from the hospital, was where the child was found. Following the incident, a significant police operation was initiated, as authorities are puzzled by the motive behind the abduction. Family members indicated they did not recognize the woman posing as a nurse.
Law enforcement is actively searching for the woman, utilizing CCTV footage and a sniffer dog in their investigation. Descriptions provided by the police characterize the suspect as a slim, blonde woman standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with her hair styled in a braid.
