The authorities responded to the scene on Horseferry Road in Westminster early in the morning after receiving reports of the baby falling from a residential building. Unfortunately, the baby succumbed to the injuries at the hospital.

A 43-year-old female was apprehended at the site under suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody. Investigators believe the incident took place in a domestic setting and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the Metropolitan Police’s inquiry, expressed condolences to the baby’s family, emphasizing the tragic nature of the event and the urgent investigative efforts being undertaken.

Those who witnessed the occurrence are encouraged to contact authorities at 101, referencing case number 1596/14MAR.

The police cordoned off a significant portion of Great Peter Street near Horseferry Road, with forensic teams present at the scene. Passersby were redirected around the area, while forensic officers conducted investigations in a flat within the Peabody Estate.

According to a spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service, immediate medical attention was provided to the infant on-site before being transferred to a specialized trauma center.
