“Instagram Influencer Fatally Shot While Waiting in Car”

Date:

An Instagram influencer met a tragic end when she was fatally shot at close range while waiting at a traffic signal in her car.

Angie Marcela Ramírez Vargas, aged 27, was behind the wheel of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in Pitalito, a town situated in the Huila region in southern Colombia, when a motorcyclist attacked her on a Friday evening.

The incident occurred as Angie, originally from Acevedo, Huila, was stationary near traffic lights outside the Gran Plaza San Antonio shopping center. Several motorcyclists approached her and reportedly fired shots at her vehicle before quickly fleeing the scene.

Despite managing to drive a short distance, Angie lost control of her car, as detailed by local outlet Caracol.

Upon the car coming to a halt, onlookers and emergency personnel rushed to assist her. Angie was rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead from gunshot wounds.

Following the incident, law enforcement swiftly initiated a search operation and secured the area. One suspect, a 48-year-old man, was apprehended while hiding in foliage. He is believed to be the passenger responsible for the fatal shooting. The second suspect escaped on foot along a riverbank and is currently evading capture.

Colonel Javier Alberto Duarte, head of the Huila Police, stated, “We established an operational plan, and through the prompt action of our officers, we succeeded in apprehending a 48-year-old man after an extensive pursuit.”

The Attorney General’s Office of Colombia and national police are conducting thorough investigations to identify the remaining suspect and determine the motive behind the murder. Authorities have confiscated a motorcycle and a firearm believed to have been used in the attack.

It remains uncertain whether Angie had reported any threats or incidents to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Women, as reported by El Tiempo.

Colombia has witnessed 621 femicides since September 2025, according to the Colombian Observatory of Femicides, which collates data from official state records, independent media sources, and grassroots community reporting.

Angie’s tragic demise adds to Pitalito’s tally of 46 homicides this year, according to Ecos del Combeima. The radio station noted that her killing marked the second murder in the municipality on that fateful day.
