Iran has rejected talks it deems “meaningless” and threatened a “ground invasion” of the UAE and Bahrain, labeling them as “mutual targets”. This strong stance comes as a direct response to Donald Trump. The situation puts Dubai at risk once again, as Iran has specified four key demands for potential discussions with Trump.
Previously, Tehran had vowed to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed as long as the US maintains its blockade. Recent events include the halting of US-Iran peace talks and Iran’s seizure of two cargo ships in the region.
As tensions rise, Iran, through its state media outlet Fars News Agency, has highlighted four non-negotiable points:
– Asserting control over the Strait of Hormuz
– Addressing nuclear-related matters such as enrichment levels and stocks
– Demanding a shift in US behavior from threats to cooperation
– Warning of a reciprocal response to any ground attacks
These points are seen as major obstacles hindering Iran’s willingness to engage in talks. Iran has emphasized that negotiations are unnecessary to resolve the conflict, as the enemy must comprehend the “rules of engagement.”
Iran has made it clear that any ground assault would result in Bahrain and the UAE becoming targets. Moreover, any attacks on Iran’s infrastructure could jeopardize the entire region’s power and oil resources. The country has also warned of specific retaliations for any assassinations.
Iran believes that negotiations are not essential, except for matters like compensation or the release of frozen assets, which can be resolved through written agreements or neutral intermediaries. Face-to-face talks are viewed as unnecessary and only serve to benefit the enemy by buying time and credibility for Iran.
