Israeli intelligence is reportedly displeased with the Trump-Iran ceasefire agreement and is expected to take actions to undermine it and prolong the conflict, according to sources cited by the Mirror. A western security source revealed that Israeli agencies, including Mossad and Military Intelligence, do not believe they have fully achieved their objectives in the conflict, despite President Trump’s assertions of success.
The nuclear enrichment facility in Tehran, along with a significant portion of Iran’s missile capabilities and thousands of drones in underground tunnels, are said to remain intact, posing a continued threat to Israeli cities and citizens. It is anticipated that Israel will seek to disrupt the perceived accomplishments claimed by Trump, as they view this as their prime opportunity to neutralize the Iranian threat, which they believe has not been fully realized yet.
The ceasefire agreement between Trump and Iran was reached just before the deadline set by Trump for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face severe consequences. Mediation efforts by Pakistan’s military chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif facilitated the truce. Iran committed to halting counter-attacks and ensuring safe passage through the disputed waterway in exchange for a cessation of hostilities against them.
Trump declared on social media that the ceasefire would be bilateral, citing progress in military objectives and ongoing negotiations for long-term peace with Iran and the broader Middle East. The temporary cessation of hostilities and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz are expected to allow for the resumption of oil exports that have been disrupted by the conflict.
Despite public statements supporting the temporary suspension of strikes on Iran, Israel conducted major attacks in southern Lebanon and issued evacuation orders to Lebanese citizens, casting doubts on the peace deal’s effectiveness. The ceasefire exclusion of Lebanon sparked tensions, with reports of missile launches from Iran and retaliatory strikes by Israel.
Iran’s demands for peace include control over the Strait of Hormuz, withdrawal of US forces from the region, an end to attacks on Iran, and the release of frozen assets, among other conditions. Many of these demands are viewed as unrealistic by the US and Israel, leading to doubts about the feasibility of a comprehensive peace agreement. Ongoing conflicts and unresolved issues between Iran and Israel continue to pose challenges to lasting stability in the region.
