The mother of James Bulger, Denise Fergus, has shared that her son’s grave was vandalized. Fergus made a plea for information as the statues atop James’ gravestone were found broken. She expressed her devastation upon learning about the damage and urged anyone with details to come forward.
Fergus revealed that two stone angels flanking the headstone were shattered, leaving the cherubs in pieces. She emphasized the need to identify the culprits responsible for desecrating her son’s final resting place. Fergus, who advocates for families in need through a charity in James’ memory, condemned the senseless act of vandalism on a child’s grave.
Merseyside Police have been contacted to investigate the incident, believed to have occurred between 10 am and 3:30 pm. Fergus urged the public to share the information to help bring the perpetrators to justice. The heartbreaking incident comes as Fergus expressed concerns over Jon Venables, one of James’ killers, seeking parole, emphasizing his potential danger if released.
Venables, now 43, has faced legal issues since his initial release in 2001, including possession of child abuse images. Fergus voiced her apprehension about Venables’ potential release, highlighting his physical and psychological transformation since the tragic murder of her son. She stressed the need for authorities to consider Venables’ past actions and the risk he may pose if granted freedom.
