A suicide letter purportedly authored by notorious child abuser and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein has been unveiled for the first time, following years of being kept confidential since his passing in 2019. The message, as reported by The New York Times, states: “They investigated me for months — FOUND NOTHING!!!’. It continues with a statement expressing the freedom to choose the moment to bid farewell, denying any inclination to break down emotionally. The note ends with ‘NO FUN’ emphasized, accompanied by ‘NOT WORTH IT!!’ without a signature.
Discovered after Epstein’s initial unsuccessful suicide endeavor in July 2019, the letter precedes his subsequent lethal attempt just two weeks later, resulting in his demise at the age of 66 in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City.
Reported findings from the US Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General disclosed that Epstein had an orange cloth around his neck with friction marks during the July 2019 incident where his cellmate indicated a hanging attempt.
Despite being under suicide observation following his prior unresponsive state, Epstein, facing charges related to sex trafficking, denied any suicidal intentions. The note was unsealed by a federal judge on May 6 after its existence was highlighted in a recent New York Times article, with Epstein’s cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, uncovering it post the failed suicide endeavor. Epstein, arrested in July 2019 for sex-trafficking crimes involving minors, including underage girls as young as 14, was pronounced dead by hanging, confirmed by the New York City medical examiner and the Justice Department Inspector General.
