A Jet2 flight scheduled to depart from Manchester Airport had to be rerouted to London Gatwick last night due to an apparent in-flight ’emergency.’ The flight, originally heading to Reus in Catalonia, Spain, was redirected over the south coast and English Channel before landing at Gatwick around 4 pm.
Although the cause of the diversion has not been officially confirmed, reports indicate it was prompted by an in-flight ’emergency.’ Tracking data shows the aircraft departing Manchester, flying over Cheshire, Birmingham, and Reading, and then approaching the coastline near Brighton before being rerouted over the High Weald towards London Gatwick.
Further details regarding the incident have not been disclosed. Jet2 has been reached out to for an official statement.
