Keir Starmer has responded to concerns about the economy, emphasizing that the Government’s actions are having a significant impact.
Speaking in Cardiff, the Prime Minister highlighted that Labour’s strategy is showing results, citing a decrease in inflation. He pointed out that lower prices in supermarkets and at gas stations are alleviating the financial strain on the public.
During an appearance with First Minister Eluned Morgan at a transportation facility in Cardiff, the Prime Minister stated, “Our top priority as a Labour government has been to stabilize the economy, and we now have concrete evidence that our plan is effective.”
He added, “With interest rates having been reduced six times, mortgage rates are lowering… Additionally, today’s news shows inflation has dropped to 3%.”
“This downward trend is expected to continue, impacting everyone as it directly influences daily expenses like shopping and fuel costs,” he continued.
“As we drive inflation down, it lightens the financial burden on individuals, recognizing that the cost of living is a predominant concern for many across Wales,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Meanwhile, Mr. Starmer has emphasized the importance of addressing the cost of living as the Government aims to alleviate financial pressures on households nationwide. This comes after Nigel Farage’s Reform party reversed its stance and announced plans to fully reinstate the two-child benefit cap if elected. In a recent vote, MPs opted to eliminate the cap, a decision that activists argue will lift 450,000 children out of poverty.
Expressing his views, the Prime Minister criticized the Reform party’s proposal, stating, “It’s disgraceful. I am proud that our government has removed the unfair two-child limit, while Reform seeks to push countless children into poverty.”
