“King Charles Pours a Pint at Dorset Brewery”

Date:

During a visit to a Dorset brewery, King Charles expressed that it was a fitting occasion to drown some sorrows with a pint of beer following England’s disappointing loss to Argentina. The King, accompanied by Queen Camilla, received a warm reception from the crowd as they took turns behind the bar at Hall and Woodhouse brewery near Blandford Forum.

After a demonstration on how to pour a pint by Toby Heasman, the head brewer, Charles was playfully urged to pick up the pace by those around him. With Camilla’s assistance, the King humorously remarked that they might need to try again as the pint was not quite full. Despite some light-hearted mishaps, Charles successfully poured a pint of ‘Fursty Ferret’ beer, leading to a round of applause from the brewery staff.

Following the pouring, the King jokingly suggested that it was indeed a good day to drown a few sorrows, drawing laughter and applause. The royal couple also participated in unveiling a plaque commemorating the brewery’s 250th anniversary, learning about the brewery’s rich family history spanning nine generations.

Additionally, Charles and Camilla engaged with representatives from Teddy Rocks, a music festival sponsored by the brewery, which supports children’s cancer charities. They were impressed by the festival’s growth since its inception in 2011, now attracting thousands of attendees and raising substantial funds for charitable causes.

The royal visit continued with Charles being presented a special bottle of Coronation Ale, crafted for the upcoming 2023 Coronation, by the head brewer. Meanwhile, Camilla interacted with apprentice chefs participating in the brewery’s chef apprentice program, expressing her admiration for their culinary creations.

Concluding their visit, the King and Queen left the brewery after unveiling the 250th-anniversary plaque, with the Queen graciously accepting a bouquet of flowers from the young members of the brewery’s family. Subsequently, the royal couple proceeded to the historic Corn Exchange in Blandford Forum, where they explored stalls featuring various charitable organizations and community initiatives across Dorset.
