“Knifeman Sparks Nursery Lockdown in Coventry”

A man seen wielding knives caused a nursery in Coventry to go into lockdown. Police responded to the incident at Park Edge Family Hub on Roseberry Avenue, where Bell Green Nursery is located, at 10:40 am yesterday. The man was apprehended, and medics treated him for serious injuries before he was taken to University Hospital Coventry (UHCW). No other injuries were reported, and the knives were confiscated.

The individual has been discharged from UHCW and is currently in police custody for questioning, according to West Midlands Police. The police confirmed that the man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed weapon without causing harm to anyone.

West Midlands Ambulance Service also responded to the scene, providing treatment to the injured man before transporting him to the hospital. A spokesperson for Bell Green Nursery clarified that the man did not enter the nursery or come into contact with any children, staff, or families. The nursery followed safety protocols, ensuring the well-being of the children during the incident, which was swiftly resolved within 40 minutes.

Acknowledging the professionalism of their staff and the cooperation of parents, the nursery expressed gratitude for everyone’s support during the incident.
