A recent poll has revealed that a majority of British citizens would vote to reverse Brexit nearly a decade after the initial decision to exit the European Union. According to the survey conducted by Deltapoll, almost 59% of respondents expressed support for rejoining the EU in a potential new referendum on Brexit.
This sentiment coincides with the upcoming 10th anniversary of the historic EU referendum on June 23, where the UK voted 52% to 48% in favor of leaving the EU. The aftermath of this decision saw the resignation of then-Prime Minister David Cameron and the challenges faced by Theresa May during her premiership until 2019.
Following the Labour party’s victory in July 2024, Keir Starmer has been working to mend relations with the EU that had soured during the tumultuous Brexit negotiations. This effort comes amidst escalating tensions with the Trump administration, particularly regarding the conflict in Iran and negotiations for Ukraine to join the EU’s £78 billion loan program.
In a subtle rebuke to the US, Starmer emphasized the importance of cohesive alliances during the European Political Summit, highlighting the need for unity among countries. He stressed the significance of Europe bolstering defense and security commitments, pointing out the mutual benefits for both the UK and its European partners.
The Deltapoll survey, conducted online with 3,353 British adults between April 26 and May 1, 2026, including respondents from Wales and Scotland, has been weighted to accurately represent the British adult population as a whole.
