David Malukas set the pace during practice at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham, clocking the fastest lap time. In the second training session of the day, Malukas recorded a time of 1 minute and 14.194 seconds. Qualifying rounds are scheduled for the evening.
Following Malukas, Alex Palou secured the second-best time with a lap time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger claimed the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 around the Markham downtown road course.
The event faced a setback as organizers had to cancel the initial track sessions due to incomplete course preparation and pending safety inspections.
This year marks Markham’s debut as the host city for the race, which formerly took place at Toronto’s Exhibition Place since its inception in 1986. Earlier in the day, Palou had topped the time charts during the morning’s first practice session, completing the lap in 1:14.9915.
