“Man Admits Fatal Reckless Driving in Golf Course Tragedy”

Date:

A man has admitted guilt to causing a fatal accident by reckless driving that resulted in the death of a mother of three. The incident occurred when a van veered off the road onto a golf course while being pursued by the police, striking Suzanne Cherry, 62, at Aston Wood Golf Club in Shenstone. Tragically, she passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham four days later.

According to reports from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), two police cars had begun following the van in Kingstanding, Birmingham, responding to suspicions of illicit activity. The chase ended when the van left the road and collided with Ms. Cherry at the golf club.

In a heartfelt statement, Suzanne’s unnamed husband expressed his devastation at losing his beloved wife, describing her as a vibrant and supportive individual who positively impacted everyone around her. He emphasized the irreplaceable void left in the lives of their family and friends.

At the Worcester Crown Court, John McDonald, 51, of Booth Street in Bloxwich, pleaded guilty to causing Ms. Cherry’s death through dangerous driving. Additionally, McDonald, along with co-defendants Johnny McDonald, 23, of Molyneux Road in Dudley, and Brett Delaney, 35, of Michael Road in Darlaston, admitted to conspiracy to commit fraud from February 17 to April 12 of the previous year.

Although the trio had initially denied manslaughter charges, they have now changed their pleas. The sentencing for the case is scheduled to take place later today.
