“Man Arrested for Damaging US Military Aircraft at Shannon Airport”

A male suspect in his forties has been taken into custody on suspicion of causing damage to a US military aircraft at Shannon Airport.

Irish authorities confirmed that the individual breached security at Shannon Airport in Co Clare over the weekend.

Footage circulating on social media depicted the man climbing onto the substantial military plane and striking one of its wings with an object.

A spokesperson for Shannon Airport stated that regular operations had resumed post the incident, which necessitated police intervention.

The airport halted operations around 9:50 a.m. and resumed them by 10:15 a.m., according to the spokesperson.

An official release from An Garda Siochana disclosed that the man, aged in his forties, was apprehended for alleged damage to the aircraft and is presently under custody as per the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The suspect can be detained for up to 24 hours, excluding breaks, as per legal regulations.
