A man was taken into custody following a disturbing revelation found on his phone, in connection to the killing and dismemberment of his wife. Rupchand Simboo, 74, faces charges including murder, concealing a human corpse, and tampering with evidence after the body of his 33-year-old wife, Salisha Ali, was discovered near JFK Airport in New York.
The victim’s remains, decapitated and dismembered, were initially found wrapped in plastic and a blue blanket by sanitation workers in September. Subsequently, her head, legs, and arm were located under the North Channel Bridge in the city.
Investigators uncovered new evidence from Simboo’s phone, revealing GPS coordinates from the Life360 app. The data indicated his presence at the bridge and the location where the body parts were discovered, aligning with the timeline of Salisha’s disappearance.
Police are exploring a potential motive related to rumors of a love triangle involving the victim. Concerns arose when Salisha failed to show up for work, prompting her family to report her missing. Simboo contacted authorities only after pressure from his mother-in-law.
Following the grim discovery of the victim’s remains, Simboo was arrested this week. He denies the charges and remains in custody without bail, with a court appearance scheduled for the upcoming week. Queens County District Attorney Katz emphasized the defendant’s alleged efforts to avoid accountability for the heinous crime and expressed sympathy for the victim’s loved ones.
