“Man Critical After Drive-By Shooting in Bradford”

Date:

A man is currently in critical condition at a hospital after being shot in the head during a drive-by shooting incident in Bradford. Armed officers responded to the scene on Gaythorne Road, West Bowling, Bradford, where a 28-year-old man sustained life-threatening head injuries. The shooting, which occurred at 10:57 pm on Wednesday, involved a white BMW from which the firearm was discharged. The vehicle was later discovered burnt out over a mile away.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, prompting a swift arrival of police and ambulance services. Residents described the chaotic scene as police and emergency services quickly descended on the area. Another resident mentioned hearing a loud bang that led to the discovery of a car on fire, initially mistaken for a backyard fire until flames engulfed the vehicle.

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team emphasized the seriousness of the incident, considering the use of a lethal weapon in the streets of Bradford. The authorities believe the shooting was targeted, and investigations are ongoing with heightened police presence and patrols for community reassurance.

The fire department confirmed responding to a car fire on Brompton Road after receiving a report late in the night. Notably, the shooting occurred close to where Junaid Khan, a 19-year-old, was tragically killed in June last year.
