Man Fatally Struck by Road Sweeper in Salford

Date:

A tragic incident occurred in a Salford suburb where a man lost his life after being struck by a road sweeper on Cleggs Lane in Little Hulton yesterday morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the police cordoned off the area following the incident around 8 am.

The pedestrian, a 64-year-old man, passed away in the hospital later that day due to serious and life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by Greater Manchester Police. The driver of the road sweeper, a 39-year-old man, thankfully escaped unharmed. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage to contact the police for assistance. This tragic event brings to mind a similar occurrence last year in Leicester, where an elderly man named Sardar Joginder Sing Ji lost his life after a road sweeper, owned by Leicester City Council, struck him. A suspect was initially detained on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and later released pending further investigation.
