“Man Found Guilty of Murder for Fatal Car Collision”

Date:

A man has been convicted of murder for intentionally driving his car into a 15-year-old boy, leading to the teenager’s death. Terrence King, aged 60, struck Devon Simmonds-Caines at a speed almost double the limit in Langley, Middleton, in July last year. Devon, who was on a stolen e-bike, sustained fatal injuries and passed away at the scene on Rowrah Crescent.

King asserted that his aim was not to harm the teenager but to block the bike’s path. Initially facing a trial in January, the jury could not reach a unanimous decision, prompting King to plead guilty to manslaughter after a discharge. Prosecutors pushed for a retrial, resulting in King being found guilty of murder. The courtroom erupted in cries upon the verdict announcement, with King sitting solemnly.

Acknowledging the intense emotions, Judge Maurice Greene addressed the situation. This case marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings.
