A young man found amusement in his sentencing after pushing his 18-year-old girlfriend out of a tower block window, causing her to fall 40 feet to the ground. Jordan Herring, now 22, received a five-year jail term with an additional one-year license for the incident that occurred in November 2022 at Merton House in Solihull, West Midlands.
The court labeled Herring as “dangerous” and criticized his lack of remorse over three years following the violent act. The altercation, triggered by cannabis use and unfounded accusations of infidelity, was captured on CCTV as Herring forcefully propelled Bobbie Goodman out of the flat.
Fortunately, Goodman landed on a grassy area, narrowly avoiding serious impact on a concrete pathway. Despite the severity of her injuries, emergency responders were not called until an hour later. Goodman suffered significant physical harm, including a collapsed lung, and fractures to her pelvis and ribs.
Herring, who was also convicted of controlling and coercive behavior towards Goodman, displayed a lack of remorse during his sentencing. The judge highlighted Herring’s continued drug use in prison and deemed him a high-risk individual, necessitating an extended sentence due to the severity of the offense.
Furthermore, Herring had a history of violent behavior, including a prior conviction for stabbing someone when he was 16. His relationship with Goodman quickly turned abusive, leading to an environment of control and fear.
Goodman, reflecting on the traumatic experience, expressed gratitude for surviving and acknowledged the detrimental impact the relationship had on her life and family. She vowed never to tolerate such abuse again, emphasizing the need to move forward from the harrowing ordeal.
