A 22-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Tawfiqi, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl in a bathroom without showing any remorse. The incident occurred at a friend’s house in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2024. Tawfiqi, also known as Papino, forcefully entered the bathroom, locked the door, and assaulted the victim.
Warwickshire Police issued an appeal to locate Tawfiqi, leading to a member of the public identifying him as an Iranian national residing in the town. Following the tip-off, police apprehended Tawfiqi at his workplace. During the arrest, he provided a false name, offered a prepared statement, and denied any wrongdoing.
After a thorough investigation supported by the victim, Tawfiqi was found guilty of rape in a court hearing at Warwick Crown Court on March 19. Detective Constable Ella Stewart praised the victim for her courage throughout the legal process and expressed gratitude for her cooperation. Stewart highlighted Tawfiqi’s lack of remorse for his actions and emphasized the importance of his incarceration in ensuring public safety.
