“Man sentenced to 126 years for brutal murders and arson”

Date:

A man has been sentenced to 126 years in prison for the brutal murders of his ex-wife and son, followed by an attempt to conceal the crimes by setting their house on fire.

Michael Kegg Jr, aged 53, received a total of 126 years behind bars for the killings of his ex-wife, Malisa Kegg, aged 51, and his son, Michael Kegg III, aged 34, which occurred on New Year’s Eve in 2024. He was given 64 years for the murder of his son and 62 years for the murder of his ex-wife.

The victims were discovered with gunshot wounds to their chests before the fire, which was later determined to have been intentionally set to cover up the murders. Evidence suggested that flammable liquid had been poured over their bodies.

The tragic incident took place in a home located 125 miles south of Indianapolis on December 31, 2024. Investigators found the bodies of the victims inside the burned residence, with indications of a violent altercation and the use of a shotgun.

The murders occurred shortly after a divorce hearing attended by the perpetrator and his ex-wife, who were reportedly facing financial difficulties. Prior to the murders, the perpetrator had shown signs of frustration over financial matters related to his ex-wife.

Amanda Kegg, the murderer’s ex-wife, is alleged to have assisted in the crimes by driving him to the scene and providing false information to the authorities. She faces charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder and is awaiting trial.
