“Man Sentenced to 25 Months for Indecent Acts Near Children”

Date:

A man, identified as Andrew Lewis, has been sentenced to 25 months in prison for indecent behavior near a children’s playground in Oakdale, South Wales. Lewis, 55, was caught on camera engaging in inappropriate acts on two separate occasions during the summer of 2025.

The first incident occurred on June 1, when Lewis was observed standing on a deck in his backyard overlooking a play area, where he exposed himself while two children, aged 11 and 12, witnessed him masturbating. Newport Crown Court heard that Lewis deliberately positioned himself in a way that provided a direct view of the playground.

In a separate incident on July 23, two 12-year-olds reported seeing Lewis in his garden exposing himself and touching his genitals while staring at them. Lewis was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity in front of a child under 13 and exposure after a trial in September. Judge Carl Harrison sentenced him to 20 months for the sexual activity charge and five months for the exposure charge.

As part of his sentence, Lewis was also ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge and comply with a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years. The order prohibits Lewis from being in the presence of children under 16, entering households with minors present, or frequenting play areas. Additionally, he must dress appropriately while in his garden and refrain from unsupervised contact with minors.

Failure to adhere to these restrictions could result in further legal consequences for Lewis.
