The suspected shooter, Cole Allen, reportedly sent a disturbing manifesto to his family before the incident, labeling himself as the “Friendly Federal Assassin” and expressing intentions to target Trump administration officials. In the manifesto, Allen mentioned his plan to use buckshot instead of slugs to minimize casualties and indicated his readiness to harm anyone present.
The manifesto, sent shortly before the shooting, outlined specific “targets,” excluding FBI Director Kash Patel, prioritized by rank. Allen’s document referenced allegations against Trump, emphasizing his motive to act against what he perceived as crimes committed by the administration.
Drawing upon his Christian faith, the manifesto included justifications for his planned actions in response to anticipated criticism. Authorities have revealed that Allen’s family turned over the manifesto to the police, leading to further investigations into his extreme political views and intentions.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche disclosed that the suspect, who attempted to breach the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner armed with firearms and knives, had traveled extensively before the event and had likely aimed to target President Donald Trump and senior administration figures. Blanche also mentioned that the suspect resisted cooperation with investigators and is expected to face multiple charges.
Reports indicate that the suspect was overpowered during a confrontation at the event, with video footage showing his attempt to breach security barriers before being apprehended by law enforcement. Despite firing a shot that hit a Secret Service officer, the suspect was subdued without injuries and taken for assessment at a medical facility.
