“Airline Chaos: Passenger’s Bizarre Tirade Delays Flight”

Date:

Chaos erupted during a crowded flight when an enraged passenger went on a strange tirade, berating the crew for speaking English and not adhering to basic safety protocols. The incident took place on an AirAsia X flight from Chongqing, China, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 22. Witnessed by shocked passengers, the woman stood up during the cabin announcements.

As flight attendants provided instructions in English and Malay, she erupted, questioning why an international flight did not use Chinese. She identified herself as Chinese and caused further disturbance by refusing to switch her phone to flight mode during taxiing.

When a fellow passenger started filming the situation, the woman became uncontrollable, claiming to be an off-duty flight attendant from another airline and insisting she was filming a reality show, demanding an apology from those recording her behavior. Despite crew attempts to calm her down, she refused to cooperate, leading the pilot to make the decision to return the plane to the gate with security intervention.

After a delay of nearly two hours, authorities boarded the aircraft and removed the disruptive woman for causing a public disturbance. The flight eventually departed at 3:46 am and landed safely in Kuala Lumpur at 8:14 am, albeit with some passengers missing connecting flights and experiencing delays. AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail commended the crew for their professionalism in handling the situation according to protocol.

In a separate incident, two passengers were ejected from a Jet2 flight bound for Manchester by Belgian authorities after a mid-air brawl occurred on February 12. The disruptive behavior led to the flight rerouting to Brussels before continuing to Manchester later in the evening. Jet2 announced that the unruly passengers would be banned for life due to their unacceptable actions.
