Wowcher’s “Croc” Email Sparks Public Outrage

Date:

Wowcher faced criticism for a promotional email that some found insensitive, encouraging customers to act swiftly like a crocodile catching prey. The email was sent shortly after a three-year-old child was attacked by a crocodile at an attraction. The child suffered injuries after being dropped into the enclosure, leading to a police investigation.

The email’s subject line, “Snap up these deals faster than a croc can catch a kid,” sparked outrage online, with users condemning the company for its poor taste. Wowcher issued an apology, acknowledging the inappropriate language and promising to review and enhance their content approval processes to prevent similar incidents in the future.

In another development, a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident at the zoo where the attack took place. Staff members, including the zoo owner’s family, were praised for their quick action in rescuing the child from the crocodile. Experts highlighted the predatory nature of crocodiles and the potential danger they pose in such situations.

Witnesses described the chaotic scene at the zoo, with one recalling a chilling scream before realizing the child had been thrown into the crocodile enclosure. The incident left visitors shaken, emphasizing the need for improved safety measures in such facilities to prevent similar occurrences.
