Middle East Air Travel Disrupted by Iran Conflict

Date:

Airlines are facing disruptions and uncertainty as the conflict with Iran impacts flights, leading to service reductions and passenger concerns.

British Airways announced the suspension of all flights to Dubai until June amidst escalating tensions linked to Iran. Meanwhile, Emirates is offering passengers booked to travel until April 15 the choice to rebook on different flights or receive a full refund.

In Iraq, an attack involving two drones targeted a US camp near the airport, as reported by Al Jazeera. Satellite images reveal damage at Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE following Iranian attacks on the facility hosting American troops. The images show significant damage at multiple hangars, indicating the intensity of the attacks.

The Middle East airspace, including areas in Bahrain and Kuwait, remains closed due to the ongoing conflict. Reports indicate that multiple countries have responded to Iranian attacks, with Saudi Arabia intercepting missiles and drones targeted at Riyadh.

The UK Foreign Office warns against non-essential travel to the UAE due to significant security risks posed by ongoing strikes on civilian infrastructure. In response to the situation, airlines like Cathay Pacific have canceled flights to Dubai and Riyadh until April 30.

Passengers impacted by flight cancellations can request refunds or rebookings. Emirates Airlines is experiencing a high volume of calls from concerned passengers seeking guidance on their travel arrangements. The airline advises passengers to complete a refund form or rebook their flights as necessary.

British Airways has extended its flight schedule reduction in the Middle East, aiming to provide clarity to affected customers during this uncertain period. The airline is closely monitoring the situation and assisting affected travelers with various options for their disrupted journeys.
