Shocking recent images emerging from the conflict in the Middle East depict a young boy climbing on an unexploded missile of Iranian origin. The photographs capture the boy hanging off the missile in an open field on the outskirts of Qamishli, in eastern Syria. In another picture, he is seen interacting with the rocket alongside another child and two adults, with sheep grazing in the background.
The boy was among a group of locals who gathered to witness the unexploded ordnance as Iran’s regional attacks persisted. Syria, along with other countries in the area, has been targeted by missiles launched by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In the midst of escalating tensions, thousands of Syrians have crossed from Lebanon into Syria to escape Israeli airstrikes over the past three days. The conflict has intensified between Israel and the Iran-allied Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry announced today that it is readying a “necessary response” following Iranian drone strikes on an airport within its borders. The ministry strongly condemned the attacks on civilian infrastructure by the Iranian military, holding Iran accountable for the explosion at Nakhchivan international airport that resulted in two injuries.
Amidst ongoing hostilities, Iran launched attacks on Saudi Arabia and Kuwait overnight using missiles and drones. Cyprus reported that the Iranian-made Shahed drone responsible for striking a British airbase on the island’s southern coast had been launched from Lebanon, raising suspicions of Hezbollah involvement.
British forces have responded by deploying air defence destroyer HMS Dragon to support Cyprus, with Wildcat helicopters equipped with anti-drone capabilities en route to the island. Defence Secretary John Healey is set to visit Cyprus today to address tensions with the local government following the reinforcement of British military presence on the island.
