A mother of a teenager who was tragically murdered revealed that the police had previously discovered a machete in the possession of the perpetrator, who claimed it was for fishing. Mason Rist, 15, and his friend Max Dixon, 16, were brutally attacked in what was described as a revenge assault, mistaking them for individuals involved in an earlier incident. The victims were ambushed while heading out to grab a pizza in Bristol by a group led by Anthony Snook, accompanied by several others, including teenagers whose identities are protected.
The mother, Nikki Knight, expressed her frustration at the missed opportunity to prevent the killings, citing the discovery of the machete in Snook’s car just days before the tragic event. Despite the weapon being found, Snook was not apprehended, as he convinced the authorities that he used it for fishing purposes. Nikki is determined to hold various authorities accountable for what she perceives as a failure to protect the teenagers.
Footage from Nikki’s home surveillance captured the harrowing attack, where the assailants armed with weapons such as a machete and a baseball bat inflicted fatal injuries on Max and Mason before fleeing the scene. During the trial, Snook denied knowledge of the victims being armed and disputed the presence of any knives in his vehicle.
Authorities decided not to pursue charges related to the weapon possession against Snook, focusing instead on his conviction for the double murder. Avon and Somerset Police defended their actions as appropriate, indicating no further action would be taken. However, Nikki remains adamant about seeking justice and accountability for her son and his friend, emphasizing the need for systemic changes to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
