Omaima Nelson, a 23-year-old model from Egypt, faced trial for the brutal killing and dismemberment of her wealthy older husband. During the court proceedings, she justified her actions by stating that she had to defend herself to survive. Despite expressing remorse for the incident, she admitted to dismembering her husband.
The relationship between Omaima and Bill Nelson, a 56-year-old pilot, began when they met at a pool bar in Huntington Beach, California. Allegedly, Omaima frequented bars to seek out older men.
Their quick romance took a dark turn when, shortly after getting married in October 1991, Bill tied Omaima to the bed during a BDSM sexual encounter. Omaima, who had experienced trauma from childhood genital mutilation, felt panicked and assaulted during the ordeal.
In a desperate attempt to defend herself, Omaima fought back, ultimately killing Bill by striking him with a lamp, stabbing him with scissors, and beating him with an iron. Post-mortem examination indicated that Bill had been restrained before his death.
Omaima recounted entering a trance-like state after the incident, leading her to dismember Bill’s body and cook various body parts. Shockingly, she also castrated him as an act of revenge.
Claiming she was trying to destroy evidence, Omaima disposed of her husband’s remains by boiling his hands to erase fingerprints and mixing his flesh with leftover turkey before disposing of it. She was later found driving Bill’s red Corvette, containing bags filled with his dismembered body parts.
Despite being eligible for parole, Omaima has been denied release twice due to violent behavior in prison, including an assault on a guard. The parole board has deemed her a serious threat to public safety, and she will have another opportunity for release this year.
