Mother and Partner Convicted in Teen Daughters’ Sexual Abuse

Date:

A mother and her male partner have been convicted of multiple sexual offenses against the woman’s two teenage daughters. The woman, whose identity is protected, had her daughters placed in care due to her drug addiction when they were young, as revealed in Leicester Crown Court.

Over a span of 10 years, the woman and her partner, who also had four children together, all taken into care, were involved in the crimes, according to a report by Leicestershire Live. In their later teenage years, the daughters reconnected with their mother.

In 2022, the older daughter, then 16, visited her mother’s residence in central Leicester. While watching a movie with her mother and the man, the mother undressed herself, and the man attempted to sexually involve the daughter. The mother was charged with inciting a child to engage in sexual activity regarding this incident.

In a separate incident, the younger daughter, aged 18 at the time, was left alone with the man when visiting her mother. He hugged and kissed her, then sexually assaulted her twice, leading to charges of assault by penetration, sexual touching, and two counts of sexual assault.

Both the man and the woman faced charges of intimidating a victim of crime by sending voice messages to one of the girls to dissuade her from supporting the prosecution. Despite denying the charges, they were found guilty by a jury, with the woman later admitting to attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The couple appeared before Leicester Crown Court for sentencing. In victim impact statements, both daughters held their mother responsible for the traumatic experiences. The older daughter expressed feeling betrayed, while the younger one feared further harm if the perpetrators were released.

The male defendant, with a history of convictions including burglary, was sentenced to over five years in prison. The woman received a two-year suspended sentence, drug rehabilitation, reoffending prevention courses, and a victim surcharge. Tearful in court, she vowed to undergo rehabilitation and quit drug use.
