“Mother in Coma After E-Scooter Hit-and-Run in Melbourne”

A mother is currently in a coma following an incident where she was struck while riding an electric scooter in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. The collision occurred just after midnight on Sunday, May 10. The woman, identified as Tania Kerr, in her 40s, was hit by a small sedan around 12:20 am. Authorities released a CCTV image of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

Tania sustained severe head and spinal injuries as a result of the crash. Her partner, Kayla Grech, expressed frustration and disbelief, urging the driver responsible to come forward. Police are actively searching for the driver but have not made any arrests yet.

Speaking to the media outside the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Kayla Grech described the driver’s actions as “deplorable.” Sergeant Emile Caggiati of the Victoria Police condemned the hit-and-run, emphasizing the importance of safety measures for e-scooter riders, such as wearing helmets and using high-visibility gear and lights, especially at night.

Sergeant Caggiati urged the driver to contact the police and address the situation, emphasizing the necessity of taking responsibility for their actions. The incident has sparked outrage and concern within the community, highlighting the need for accountability and road safety awareness.
