Mother of Three Found Dead in Freezer; Husband Charged

Date:

A mother of three was discovered deceased in a freezer at her residence earlier this month, as revealed in court proceedings.

Carolann Barraclough, 37, known as Caz, was the subject of an inquiry into her passing at Wakefield Coroner’s Court. The confirmation of Caz’s demise was made by a Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedic who responded to her residence in Horbury, Wakefield, on March 6.

Coroner Oliver Longstaff mentioned that it seemed Carolann had been located in a freezer at her home. He clarified that the inquest was not reaching any definitive conclusions at this stage. The post mortem examination cited “blunt force head trauma pending further investigation” as the cause of death.

During the hearing, it was disclosed that Carolann’s spouse had been accused of her murder. Mr. Longstaff temporarily halted the coronial inquiry.

On Ken Churchill Drive, heartfelt notes and flowers were laid, with one message portraying Carolann as a “beautiful and amazing sister” with a radiant smile. The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of messages, cards, and floral tributes.

Carolann was remembered as a cherished mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.

David Barraclough, 45, residing on Ken Churchill Drive, Horbury, made an appearance at Leeds magistrates’ court earlier this month, facing charges related to Carolann’s murder.

DCI Stacey Atkinson, from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, reassured the public early in the police investigation, stating: “We understand this incident may raise concerns locally, and I can confirm we are not pursuing any other suspects in connection with the case.”
